Cobra Gold 2024 Joint Exercise

On February 27, 2024, 9:30 at the Naval Airbase, Utapao Province, Rayong, Thailand, Cobra Gold 2024 Joint Exercise was officially opened by CDF RTARF General Songwit Noonpackdee.

Attended by Commander USINDOPACOM and ambassadors from participating countries such as the United States, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and Malaysia.

The Cobra Gold event is a multinational Latma event organized by RTARF (Royal Thai Armed Forces) with USINDOPACOM, followed by seven permanent participating states. (Amerika Serikat, Thailand, Indonesia, Jepang, Korea Selatan, Malaysia, and Singapura).

Cobra Gold is the largest and longest-running joint military exercise in Southeast Asia, jointly organized every year in Thailand by the Royal Thai Armed Forces (RTARF) and the US Indo-Pacific Command.

This year's exercise is the 43rd, with seven countries participating in the major exercise: Thailand, the United States, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Malaysia.

Two additional countries participated in humanitarian assistance training—the People's Republic of China and India—and one additional country joined the Command Post Exercise—Australia.
Ten countries joined the Multi-National Planning Enhancement Team (MPAT): Bangladesh, Canada, France, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, the Philippines, Fiji, the United Kingdom, and Brunei.

Ten countries joined the Joint Observer Liaison Team (COLT): Cambodia, Laos, Brazil, Pakistan, Vietnam, Germany, Sweden, the Hellenic Republic (Greece), Kuwait, and Sri Lanka.

A total of 30 participating countries and 9,590 participating staff.

The objective of the exercise was to develop good military relations between the participating allies, enhance the capacity to carry out joint and multilateral operations by adapting mobilization in various emergency situations, and practice following standard operational procedures for multinational forces.

It also strengthens ties between the armies of other participating countries as well as the locals at the practice site.
